Kennel Assistant - Experience Needed

Job responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining kennel area in such a manner as to provide an odor free and low stress environment. Kennel Assistants are also responsible for feeding and providing daily care for all animals including those being boarded and hospitalized. These responsibilities include walking dogs, cleaning cages/runs, handling aggressive dogs and cats, and controlling contagious illnesses/diseases with isolated animals. Applicants must have background in performing treatments as assistants administer injections and give oral medications on the weekends. Kennel Assistants also help doctors and other technicians with handling patients during physical exams. Some other duties consist of cleaning the treatment and reception area of the hospital by emptying trash, mopping floors and cleaning restrooms. Applicants must have a background with both cats and dogs. Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays.
The hours of work would include weekend shifts (alternating with co-workers) as well as morning and evening shifts. To be clear, this is a part-time job with the potential for more hours later on. Average work week will range from 20-30 hours.
· Saturday AM shift > 6:30AM - 2:00PM
· Saturday PM shift > 4:00PM - 7:00PM (dependent on the amount of hospitalized/boarded animals)
· Sunday AM shift > 6:30AM - 11:30AM (dependent on the amount of hospitalized/boarded animals)
· Sunday PM shift > 3:00PM - 7:00PM (dependent on the amount of hospitalized/boarded animals)
· Weeknight shifts start at 3:00PM and usually end around 8:00/8:30PM (depending on workload and amount of hospitalized/boarded animals)
· Weekday morning shifts may be necessary at times. Hours are 6:30AM - 2:30PM
