Cardiographic technicians are allied health support personnel who work in a variety of settings. Their main goal and function is to assist physicians and cardiologists in diagnosing and treating cardiac (heart) ailments. Cardiographic technicians also have advanced knowledge of operating machines that record the electrical changes that occur during and between heart beats. The machine used is called an electrocardiograph or EKG machine. Cardiographic Technicians will also attach Holter Monitors to patients who require 24 hour heart supervision. Cardiovascular technologists and technicians assist physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac (heart) and peripheral vascular (blood vessel) ailments. Cardiovascular technicians, who specialize in electrocardiograms (EKGs), stress testing, and Holter monitors are known as cardiographic or EKG technicians.

 

The average salary of a cardiographic technician ranges from $23,348 to $35,036. Cardiographic Technicians can work in a whole array of locations, including but not limited to:

  • Hospitals

  • Cardiologist offices

  • Surgeon offices

  • General physician offices

  • Colleges and universities
