PROGRAM BREAKDOWN
This program will cover many different topics of what being a dental assistant entails. Students will learn a description of legal and ethical responsibilities of the dental healthcare worker. An introduction to general dental settings and office procedures will be covered as well as the principles of microbiology and disease prevention and infection control procedures. By the completion of this program, students will have knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the mouth as it relates to dental function. Some other topics included are learning how to record patient assessment data, pharmacology and anesthesia as it relates to dentistry. Most importantly, students will understand the use and knowledge of dental instruments and equipment.

120 hours didactic

120 hours externship Externships usually take place during normal business hours during the week (Example: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.)
The externship is a required period of supervised practice done off campus or away from one's affiliated institution. Students will be placed in externships by MK Education, and will receive training on proper conduct at externship sites such as health clinics.
