Aubree Kiebles, who graduated from MK Education and the College of Dupage’s Dental Assistant program, completed the program with a child and a job! She is featured this month because of all her hard work, achievements and for always going above and beyond.
Tell me a little about your background.
I'm Aubree. I am 21 years old. I graduated from Wheaton North high school in 2011. Little did I know, I was in the beginning stages of my pregnancy. I continued on to college going full time first semester and second semester only to hit a bump in the road. The first day of classes, my beautiful daughter thought it would be a great day to arrive! Having had her I stopped attending school only to put me even further back. Two years later I was informed about the Dental Assisting program. Though it was extremely difficult to do with a child and a job, I passed!
What did you most enjoy most about the program?
I enjoyed the Saturday classes very much because it was really hands on and we touched on so many subjects of the field.
How did the class/externship prepare you for your job?
I feel they class prepared me well but the externship is where I learned so much more! Without the class I would have been completely lost. The class taught me a lot but being able to experience it in a real office was extremely helpful on preparing me for the job. Especially since I was hired in the office I did my externship at!
Do you have any advice for someone considering/taking this class? Some advice I would give is to be very organized, PAY ATTENTION, it's very easy to get lost. Don't leave class early, stay the whole 4 hours. Every minute is worth your time. It will help you on the long run.
Would you recommend this program? I would definitely recommend this program. It is a fantastic way to enter the field if you are interested in becoming a hygienist or even dentist.
